He further emphasized that the signal was completely unintentional, occurring amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he remarked. “It was accidentally performed. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved pretty quick.”

This incident isn’t the initial instance an NFL owner has been fined for misconduct. Previous cases involve:
- Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was penalized $300K for throwing a drink at spectators in January 2024.
- Former Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams received a $250,000 fine in 2009 for a similar obscene gesture.
Jones, a figure who is recognized for his publicity flair, possesses an approximate net worth of $16 billion, making the penalty easily payable for the billionaire owner.

The incident follows a contentious preseason for Jones, who faced widespread criticism from the Dallas supporters after the team dealt key pass rusher Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.
