The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the struggle between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for greed in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky true story of the disgraced TV preacher and her felon spouse. Garfield acts as the venal Jim, who states at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple set about profiting from the American public's Christian beliefs. It's a riot of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, however Chastain achieves to show the real-life figure with compassion. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, Film4
